Augusta Corporate Park Rail Spur

The Augusta Corporate Park is an 1,800-acre industrial development in South Augusta designed for heavy industrial use.  The park is a “Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development” (GRAD) site, meaning it has completed extensive due diligence – including environmental studies, topographical surveys, and utility planning – to reduce risk and speed up the development process for new businesses.  Gearig was selected to construct one of the site’s infrastructure features, a new railroad spur from an existing main line to expedite the import and export of materials and products. The project, scheduled to be completed in late 2026, spans over 56 acres and includes a 220-ft triple-box culvert.

New Augusta Arena

The former James Brown Arena in downtown Augusta has been demolished to make way for a larger, updated entertainment complex. Gearig has been contracted to perform the civil/sitework packages for the project. Our scope of work includes the import, placement, and compaction of material needed to backfill the basement of the former facility, creating a solid foundation for the new building.  Our scope also includes the demolition and new installation of underground utilities, sewer, water, and storm drainage. Gearig will also install curb, lay an aggregate base, and pave the former parking area and 7th street parking improvements. This project includes the installation of 48″ ductile iron sanitary sewer mains as well as multiple three-stage oil interceptors and a Contech CDS Hydrodynamic Separator for Stormwater Treatment.

Columbia County Public Safety Driving Course

Gearig Civilworks was honored to break ground on the Columbia County Public Safety Driving Course Complex.  The course will be an important addition to the Sheriff’s training facility by allowing deputies to undergo extensive vehicular training locally and in a timely fashion.  Historically, law enforcement has been required to travel over two hours to participate in a program with a year long waiting list. This state-of-the-art facility provides for a multitude of training options from high speed straightaways and skid pans to a mock town and massive cone course.  Gearig is responsible for clearing, grading, installing storm drainage, water and sewer utilities and soil cement stabilization.
